So Many Photoshoots!

Well well well....It's been awhile hasn't it? So sorry for not updating more often...my mind has been wandering off to a few projects and ideas. I worked on a few photography projects. I'm learning to take portraits in my home studio. Not an easy thing when its a homemade studio! The pictures below where all taken in my private studio, with my Canon T3i Rebel.

I've had a few themes going on and I'll try my best to update the ones coming soon.

Enjoy!

I hope you liked these pictures as much as I do! I am especially glad with the last one :) All pictures were taken, edited, modeled, by me. Hair and makeup too!

Thanks for Reading!

Its also nice to finally have a reason to body paint myself, haha. Some of the pictures can also be found on my Instagram here: http://instagram.com/riverphotography/

Enjoy!

I hope you liked this set of pictures! I loved shooting it and being the model too! I hope to have new ideas for photoshoots soon enough. If you have ideas, let me know! I'd be glad to take requests.

Thanks for reading.

★ Minimalistic Photography ★

I decided to try and learn how to take minimalist pictures. The minimalist style is one of my favorite and incorporating this style to my photos is important to me. I've done a few research on the lifestyle as well and I know it is something I wish to learn to do. Living as a minimalist. Yesterday, I decluttered my closet completely until I had only 41 pieces of clothing to wear. We call this a capsule wardrobe. I find that with my type of personnality, (anxious most of the time that is) it helps me relax and breathe. I am certainly a newbie in this way of living, but I hope I can grow to learn more about it.

I also took some photographs with the minimalist style in mind. They are very simple, shot in bright daylight, with a white canvas as background. Here they are:

I hope you like them! I personnaly am pleased with the results. I enjoy following minimalist photographers on Instagram and it inspired me to make myself a new Instagram account for my photography projects only. I will use it for practice, but also to show what I am working on, and how I am using my new camera.

I hope you enjoy and if you wish to follow me on Instagram, my account is @riverphotography

Thank you for reading!

Room Decoration !

Last week, I woke up with the brilliant idea of redecorating my room in its entirety. I thought I would make a post to share the experience. Back in May 2014, I moved in my present house with my parents. I found this room in our basement. It was red. Or hot pink, can't decide which really. Even the ceiling was hot red/pink. Abominable if you ask me. There was also terrible tapestry that looked like it came out of the 70's. Simply terrible.

So, after looking online for ideas of color palettes I saw that mint colored rooms was quite in fashion. I thought, "It would look very nice down here, and light the room a bit". I wasn't wrong, but I found it quite hard to find the right color in stores. I trusted my guts and bought a can of paint that looked quite the same shade I had in mind. When came the time to paint my walls, I discovered that indeed, it was a beautiful color, and it would look very nice.

But as the paint dried, the color changed. I really should've listened to my Mother about this. The color became a harsh, fluorescent green-yellow tone. I couldn't decorate my room accordingly because nothing quite fitted with my walls. So,..last week I finally decided to do something about it. I had been in that room for quite some time now with this hideous color, it was about time!

Plain white seemed like the perfect solution. White goes with everything, and decorating the room with colorful things like pillows, carpets, and paintings seem way easier when you have a neutral background.

So I painted all of my walls white, along with both of my cabinets and also one of my nightstand. I had two, one white and the other gray. Ugh, I don't even want to think about the horrible combination.

I took some pictures of the before and after, but I am afraid that the "before" picture doesn't show the real color value of the greenish yellow nightmare. At least you'll get an idea of what I did.
Here it is:

So I hope you enjoyed reading this little post and see how it turned out!
I will be writing to you soon.

❅ Caught The Flu ❅

I haven't been able to post much these days because of the flu. I feel it is getting worse, and I have not been able to paint as well. I am feeling too weak to do my regular routine and instead, I stay in bed and try to take care of myself as best as I can. The fact that I went ice skating with some friens yesterday while it was snowing and the wind made the evening so much more cold, did in fact, not help at all. Now I suffer the consequences of my actions. Ugh.

My brother and my sister in law came for a visit today with their baby. I was glad to see his little face even though I had to stay away so he wouldn't catch what I have. Tomorrow, hopefully I will feel better, I am going to church as usual with them and afterwards I will go ice skating with my brother a little bit. They have a beautiful ice rink in front of their apartment. I will be making sure to take syrup tonight along with some tylenol night-action against the flu. Let's hope they will do their job properly.

I was pretty sure I would've been able to show you my watercolor project, but I still haven't finished the third painting. It will have to wait. Beside all of that, there isn't much news to talk about.
I need some rest, and I am sure you will understand.

Thanks for reading!

✿ Photographer in the Making ✿

It was so cold this morning, and I am feeling extremely ill since yesterday. I had to get up early so I could leave with my mom to go to Montreal for her cello lesson. I had to go with her because I finally decided to get registered in a school program and she didn't want to do the ride twice I was glad to hear that my father was going to go with me instead so I could sleep longer in the morning. I fell back asleep for four hours. I wasn't too nervous, to my surprise, to go meet with the administration. Ususally I have tremendous stomach aches and jell-O legs. I was feeling pretty okay, beside how ill I felt.

I can gladly announce that I am officially registered for April 2015 ! I can't wait to start. The school is so modern and beautifuly built and there is so many studios and classrooms. The program will be for a period of fifteen months and I read all the classes that I will attend and its just so amazing and exciting. I am filled with joy at the moment.

I hope to be able to find a job. I will need it very much. I still haven't been called back from the places I gave my c.v but I have to stay positive. I am sure I will find something soon. Hopefully I won't be ill when I'll go in for interviews.

My watercolor project is going well. I still didn't finish my third painting but I drew everything needed on it at least. I am still not too sure about which colors I want to use for it. Ahh, the struggle.
I can't wait to show it to you all. You will see how I like to design clothes (hint hint).

☯ Small Life Update ☯

So many things happenning at the moment and I wish to share it with you all. First and foremost, my sister-in-law gave birth to a beautiful baby boy this Monday! I am so proud of her and my brother and their little baby boy is the cutest, most wonderful being I have ever seen. I am glad to finally be an Auntie and I can't wait to see him grow every week.

Also, I started to job hunt more seriously now that I have an appointment at a photography school in Montreal so I can register for the program. I would start in April. I will give you more details about it next week because my appointment is on Tuesday. I hope that I will be able to work at the same time, since it is a part-time program. I also have the time to work two and a half month before starting. I am getting excited for all of this...and I hope all will go well. It is a private school so it is kind of on the pricy side. That is why I have to work hard to be able to pay everything. By everything, I mean an important part of it, since my parents told me they would help me a bit, and I have the help of the government included as well. I should be fine, but I really need to find a job soon.

My watercolor painting is going well. I started a project related to nature and I can't wait to show
you all of it. I finished my second painting this evening and I am not sure how many I want to include in my mini serie...maybe around five or six but it is still unsure. I am pleased with how it looks so far. The canvas I use for this project are rather small (about the size of a novel cover) so it doesn't take too long to make one, depending on the complexity of the drawing. I try to keep things simple, because I find watercolor complicated with layering colors. Anyway, the effect it gives is nice, so I will continue using that type of paint for now.

I had my second piano lesson this week and it is going very well. I changed my main piece because I wasn't motivated to play it since I did not even like it. The new one I started is beautiful and more of a challenge for me, therefor it is more enjoyable.

I wish you all a wonderfull weekend !
